IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Burn Regulations
- Guidance for burning may be attained by calling the Sandoval County information line: 867-4581, menu option 3.
- Burning hours will be 8am to 4:30pm.
- At no time will burning of household trash be allowed. This is a violation of EPA regulations and is subject to heavy fines.
- The material being burned must be attended at all times.
- The burning pile size may not exceed 3’x3’x3’.
- Hand tools (shovel, rake) must be available.
- A garden hose or a water source needs to be available.
- If the wind increases to above 10 mph the fire must be extinguished.
- Notify your neighbors so they are aware of the burning and don’t call 9-1-1.
- If the smoke from the fire is directly impacting your neighbors you may be instructed to extinguish the fire.
- For fires other than brush burning, such as bonfires or ceremonial fires, contact the Sandoval County Fire Marshal at 867-0245 to obtain the proper authorization.
These Burning Regulations are in accordance to the Sandoval County Fire Chief.
